Went out to do an undulating 8 mile taper and found it surprisingly easy and quick. Not what I expected or should have done! At least I've found a little bit of confidence ahead of next Sunday's marathon after the disaster in Brighton on 9 April.
Everyone looks like they're doing well - keep it up people!

I do apologise Phil I've not got your mara for next week on the chart I'll have a look tomorrow when I'm on the laptop. But good luck I'm sure you'll smash it.
I was away last week and had to drag myself out for a run - what is that about all day to run and I can't be bothered.
I did however get 13 miles in over the week. This week is going to be a challenge, uncles funeral on Tuesday, cousins wedding on Thursday and small issue of completing relays with running club on Wednesday. If I can get 10 in I'll be happy then mara training starts in May - no excuses.
Glad to see you back out Mandymoo and hope you're all doing ok it's been very quiet

Tough week GG. I ran again today after about a 6 week break - eldest daughter had viral meningitis last month so very scary time but she responded well to all the drugs and it was caught early... Great watching the London marathon today, loved the Matthew Rees story...
Good luck next week SurreyPhil...

Well after a few crazy weeks before Easter when I didn't get a thing done, I've finally started training properly again. Thankfully, I don't seem to have detrained too much, so am already putting in some nice 10m/m in training, which bodes well for a few 50%WAVA races over the summer. Just need to catch up on the 500 mile target now, although I'm less than 10% behind as of this morning.

As I live just 15 miles from Swansea, I was thrilled to watch Matthew Rees. It was good also to see another Swansea Harriers runner earn his place in the World Champs in his very first Marathon. I doubt whether I shall run any more myself; my efforts at the distance were in 1995 and 2011.

Hi everyone. I'm returning from injury, a good while ago, and just getting back into things both physically and mentally. Would I be permitted to join your merry band? I realise it's April, nearly May, and I'm going to have to put in over 62 miles per month between now and December, but it's a target!

omg Taz how awful for your daughter and you guys but glad she's responded to treatment I hope she continues to get better and stronger. Good luck with returning to training.
Glad to see you back frobster & Grady girl. How amazing were Swansea runners Ev!! They did the running community proud Matt with helping Dave and the other lad for winning in his debut marathon! Amazing.
Well Tuesday was the funeral I was deeply saddened but got up as normal for work and went out for a 5m run I thought of my uncle as I ran and the amazing memories of a happy childhood with the family. The service was excellent and caught up with family at the wake. We've all gone our separate ways over h years but picked up where we left off.
The wedding yesterday was fabulous and good to catch up with family in happier circumstances. I danced my socks off which I reckon is cross Training!
Wednesday I did the relays I was so nervous but neednt have worried. I did 1.6m in avg of 9.22 super fast for me! The atmosphere was electric and we ate cake afterwards. Best thing I did was joining the purple army!
Long run planned tomorrow and with a tailwind I may hit 60 for the month. Given I thought I'd struggle for 40 il well chuffed whatever I get too.

GG, what a few days you've had. Well done on your 1.6ml. Was that a sort of PB? (I mean the pace of 9:22/ml. for that sort of distance.) Incidentally we're not members of Swansea Harriers. My wife and I are in a club that takes literally anyone, from absolute non-runner to some quite speedy people, and all shapes and sizes. The somewhat overweight people get just as much encouragement as anyone else. We all appreciate that they are doing something about their problem, and really making an effort.
