If we ever get a dog, I'd definitely want to run with them, in fact it's almost why I'd consider getting one!
Slowly adding the miles, lovely chatty parkrun with friends today.

They are the most amazing running buddies Poppy, only thing is they have to be over a year old before you can run them so their bones are fully formed. A rescue would be able to run straight away and would form up a great bond beteeen you.
It would be the reason I'd want another now but without Ellie's back problems it's not right for her. I keep thinking about seeing if our local shelter would let me volunteer and run their dogs. Only thing I'd want to take them all home.
I've not made parkrun this year yet hopefully next week.
Just had a scary issue wth chest pain it was awful pain in my chest and back now have a stotting bad head & could just go back to sleep. I had similar issue before a few years ago and had full heart scans I was told my heart is ok but I will get it checked again. So don't think I'll run today.

Southend Marathon cancelled as the local council wouldn't closed some roads. I did contemplate doing another race that weekend but I think it prudent to log some more quality training runs ahead of the Brighton Marathon in April rather than to do a earlier marathon a bit under prepared. A blessing in disguise as my entry is also being transferred free of charge to another race!

That's crazy Phil. Have to say I did Muscat 10k last year and no roads closed they introduced traffic calming but cars still around. I did think that would never happen in the UK!

What's more daft is that they allow the same organising charity to do a half-marathon in the summer for which they do close the roads. We've all done races which are not on closed roads. The warning shout of 'car!', 'car!', 'car!',... from runner to runner is not uncommon in this country.

I've already sent a complimentary and supportive e-mail to Havens Hospices. My appreciation also extends to all volunteers who really wanted to get the marathon going this year after five years or so of trying. I'm also saddened to read some particularly nasty comments by shop owners who are happy about the cancellation. You would have thought that such a race would have been welcomed by them as more visitors would be in Southend than normal for a Sunday in March.

Tiny plod with Ellie this morning more to force me out the door as I was feeling exhausted. Enjoyed it but was up against the clock as I had a taxi booked for a work trip.
Off tomorrow (family funeral) so I'll hopefully get out in the morning.
I can never understand local businesses complaining when there is an event (of any kind) on in the area it has to be a positive impact on sales even if there is some traffic issues with it. Not a very welcoming vibe.
Hope you're all well
