Hello everyone!
Hope everyone is coping ok at present.

My running isn't great but I'm managing 1-3 runs a week of around 2 miles. My back and hip are tight and sore (a longstanding problem). I'm focusing more on total volume of training (especially walking) which has increased quite a bit (so my body is probably adjusting). I don't normally walk much specifically (just through the course of the day) so my legs are feeling it but I think in the long run it'll be a good thing.

From a lockdown point of view life isn't really much different (apart from the strangeness of the situation - shopping, limitations of going out etc). I'm missing my studio sessions with my PT but we are doing video sessions instead - not the same but it'll do. I'm building up a bit of a home gym equipment area in the kitchen diner!

I'm still going to work which gives me the opportunity to walk to and from work 3 days a week (and now my bike is fixed, one or two of those can be cycling to and from). It's only around 2.8 miles but it adds up to quite a bit more than I used to do (I'm avoiding public transport). I get to see my colleagues at work and whilst we try to stay 2m apart it is not possible all the time. Work is different at the moment and we found out last week that we've been put on a weekend 'on call' rota (we have never done anything like this before - not entirely sure what it will involve but will just have to deal with whatever comes up).

So I'm not having the full lock down experience and am getting more than enough social contact despite living alone (I'm quite happy in my own company). I have 4 days a week at home on my own, but this is fairly normal for me - I would go out for a few bits but I don't really go out much. I have some assignments to do for a masters degree (not very motivated) so haven't really got much time to do other stuff round the house and garden at the moment.

Lovely to hear from you Penny. I do chi running sessions/yoga with Nick Constantine a local chi trainer. He maintained walking is as important as running.

I did a Julia Buckley workout in the garden this morning she’s doing them at 8 which is my official start time but I’m aiming to start work early do the session at 8 then carry on. I’ll do a run or walk after work.

Glad you’re managing to get some social contact I do worry for people who are solo or living with difficult partners and those without outdoor space. I know our garden will be a godsend to us.

Yes GG I’m very lucky with my house and garden and that I live alone (I don’t know anyone I could share a lockdown with!) 😂
I’ve just done my session with my personal trainer on zoom. It included a 30 minute fairly intense circuit! 😮 He pushes me more than I can do alone (I give up too easily!)

Just been looking at my training log thinking where are my April runs... for some reason they didn’t export from Garmin to Fetch. Glad I checked it missed 3 runs from March too!

Got out for a joint effort today I had a parcel to post and needed milk so I ran to the post office the long way. 5m done then I switched to a walk for the rest (my legs were wrecked) as I figured I couldn’t run with milk it was a good excuse.

Back to work tomorrow.

Having someone watch always encourages a bit more effort. Well done Pen.

With the workouts and running my legs and body were tired so I almost didn’t do it but boy I’m so glad I did I loved it.

For any of you wanting a workout while we’re stuck indoors check her out. It’s every morning at 8 but videos are in her page so you can do them anytime. They are 30-40min and suitable for any level she shows options but also says do your own exercise during the interval if you find the suggested ones not suitable.

facebook.com My mam has even done Julia’s workouts with me in the past.

Thanks GG. I’ve had a quick look and will add that in to my weekly routine.

(Except for the part where she does those sort of sprint start, knee to chest repeats. I’m sure that my knees wouldn’t survive that!)

Great Red they are such good workouts - and just do something different while she does anything that causes a problem. Even walking on the spot.

I'm back after missing four weeks of running through 'flu and a bit of recovery time. Including self-isolation for me and my family as I had a temperature. Not the virus but clearly the 'flu yet still stuck indoors as it is a symptom. So annoying!

Did a 6.5 miles run this morning which was quite enjoyable. Eventually passed the 100 mile mark which has taken forever it seems. Still finding the 2m distancing rule hard to take but fully understand the logic - even with other runners.

Keep safe everyone!

About This Thread

*EDIT* in the current situation we are not entering races but I think we can still log any plans we may have over the coming months, whether it is learning a new skill, ticking jobs off a list, moving house(!), doing alternative exercise, aiming for training hours instead of miles, writing to family & friends, finding inventive ways to be together virtually or even entering virus races please fill in the planner and I’ll update this thread and keep our little social group going to share our goals.

Everyone is welcome, whether you don't want to set an official target or you may be aiming further but still want to pop by for a chat/offer some words of wisdom or just because the door is always open and kettle is on.

(When you go in give yourself a colour so I know you're wanting to be on the sheet so I can keep it tidy)

If you update the race planner after I've updated the header drop me an fmail or a reminder (or 2) on the thread so I know to update. Thanks
