My running is going really well so far this year and I'm managing to stick to my plan, I am however still rubbish at keeping up to date on here but I have added myself to the Race Planner with the two HMs that I have booked for this year!

I’ve been for a walk!!! I actually felt up for this walk and I enjoyed it. The hills and mud made it interesting at times and I won’t lie I was shattered but I enjoyed it. Not run fit yet but a week ago I wasn’t walk fit! Raaarrrr

Great post Hally!!! I’ll check the race planner out and update.

I’ve not had a great deal to report of late. Mojo seemed to have gone AWOL, but this week I think that I’ve turned a corner.
The first week in January was good, but since then I seem to find any reason why a can’t run.
This last week though I’ve run my furthest weekly total this year, and this afternoon managed seven miles, which is my longest run since last October. I’m confident that I could have run further, but had promised Sherry that I’d be back by 5pm.
So much of this running lark is psychological, and I’ve been inspired by how you guys have been doing, (GG excepted, but you can’t help being broken at the moment).
Hopefully mojo has now returned and will remain. My hamstring/glute pain is marginally better and with the longer days coming things are looking up 🤞

Glad you're making progerss GG - you'll be run-fit soon enough.

I'll get my races added to the planner - I know I've got a handful coming up.

I managed 3 miles over the weekend despite an impromptu trip to see my mum, and hoping to get another 10 in this week.

GG, we'll all be glad when we see you back running with us (sort of). I know it's been a long time, but I know others who have had this flu thing for a month to 6 weeks and still not completely better yet.

The weather here was dry for most of the day, with wind speed 20-30mph at most. I ran 5.50 miles at a brisk, but not fast pace, running from home on the local roads and footpaths nearby. At times I found the wind a little challenging, but rather better than at the weekend.

My apologies to GG. Having reread my previous post, it could read as if you hadn’t inspired me. Nothing could be further from the truth! 🙂

Ahh Red I didn’t read it that way that you guys are out doing it giving me a challenge for the coming months is great!!

I’ve plotted the Ozzie trip with runs to take in some park runs although most will be freedom runs as we pass by as I’m struggling to fit in more than 1 real parkrun.

Hope you’re not too badly affected by the storms all. We’ve been let off lightly in the north east (so far anyway)

Ev your friends with this bug for 4-6 weeks seems about right the doctor I saw on Friday said it took him 6 weeks to fully recover. If that’s the case I should be right as rain by our trip - fingers crossed.

My new Garmin measures so much and is starting to indicate I’m better than a week ago! Resting HR is back to early 50’s it was much higher when I was testing it during the bug and even last week. Fingers crossed.

Red, I've often struggled with lack of mojo (one of the reasons I'm so desperate to keep on with my current training streak) and I think you're totally right about a lot of it being psychological... Case in point being that try as I might I can't see me fitting my long run in this week as I'm going to London for the weekend with my other half and in my mind I'm worried that if I do miss it then it will be a downward spiral as missing one run will make it easier to skip another, etc. I'm just hoping that we get back in time on Sunday to squeeze it in late afternoon/early evening!

GG, glad you seem to be on the mend.

About This Thread

Maintained by geordiebells
*EDIT* in the current situation we are not entering races but I think we can still log any plans we may have over the coming months, whether it is learning a new skill, ticking jobs off a list, moving house(!), doing alternative exercise, aiming for training hours instead of miles, writing to family & friends, finding inventive ways to be together virtually or even entering virus races please fill in the planner and I’ll update this thread and keep our little social group going to share our goals.

Everyone is welcome, whether you don't want to set an official target or you may be aiming further but still want to pop by for a chat/offer some words of wisdom or just because the door is always open and kettle is on.

(When you go in give yourself a colour so I know you're wanting to be on the sheet so I can keep it tidy)

If you update the race planner after I've updated the header drop me an fmail or a reminder (or 2) on the thread so I know to update. Thanks
