I'm in for this - albums I'm already looking forward to are the new James Yorkston album in January, and Quasi's first album in ten years in February.

Excellent. I'm pretty up to date with what's happening on the UK folk circuit but not so much on other genres these days. I feel a need to do something about it!

Thanks for starting McG.

Looking at Joe1970’s list we have a lot of shared love for artists. I have heard of Jockstrap but not ‘heard’ them.

Week one for me will be

Jockstrap - "I Love You Jennifer B"

As suggested by Joe1970

Disco peanuts is one of the greatest running songs ever, one suggested to me by Hendo of this parish.

Might have a go at this. Inspired by the other thread, I played though (most of*) five! new-to-me albums yesterday whilst shopping/driving. One was even from 2022**

*For reasons of timing and variety only one made it all the way. For the curious, they were by Skaar, Sparrow and The Workshop, Honeyblood, Vukovi** and Judas Priest.

Joopsy, the Jockstrap album is a bit art-school cool for me overall, but 'Glasgow' is high on my fave songs of the year list.

I enjoyed the Gently Tender album, that was one I'd never heard of before, even though I thought I knew all the side projects of the Big Moon people! Will keep an eye on this thread, always good to discover something new and recommended :)

Thanks Joe, won’t hurt me to try something a bit different.

Three of the Gently Tender guys are three quarters of Parma Violets, that’s how I knew of them.

I’ve started a few days early with the Beths as I recalled them from a mcgoogan blog.

McGoohan Adwaith album is already released 🙏

Jockstrap are a side project of at least one member of 'Blsck Country New Roads' I believe?

About This Thread

Maintained by McGoohan
As a spin-off from Joopsy's excellent Albums of 2022 thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/albums-of-2022-62537/ this is a new thread where we commit to listen to one new album a week in 2023. Allowing a couple of weeks off for life commitments etc, that's 50 albums in the year.
EDIT - new and improved (i.e. exactly the same) for 2024
