Well done Steve, still making good progress. Very pleased with this mornings parkrun; 28.42 and 58th out of 140 runners, WAVA 68.52% |

Well done everyone some great running going on. Thanks for RDing Lesley, I still volunteer but gave up my RD role because I disagree with some of the changes to parkrun. I ran and volunteered this morning. 21.47 was my time before doning a pink hi vis to be the funnel manager. |

Well done, HS, LL, FF and any other parkrun runners in your runs today. The last time I did a parkrun was just before Covid early in 2020, when I ran about 28 minutes at our local one. In contrast, I ran a 5K on a local cycleway today and it took me 37:51! After my knee injury a year ago, and the consultant who pronounced 'Doom' on any more running, it didn't seem as if I would ever run 5K again. It's unlikely that I'll ever dip below 30 minutes, but at least I still enjoy being able to run - at any pace.

Evangel it's great to know you're running again and shows what some doctors know. I do feel sorry for GP's knowing a little about a lot but if they're not 100% they should advise seeing a specialist.

Good to read about your continued progress Evangel. Do you still experience pain during your runs? I was told by an orthopedic specialist in January 1991 after being in hospital with a back issue for two months that I wouldn't run again . Fact is I've never run "like I was able to before" thanks to doctors at the time being too slow to deal with the emerging issue . I guess we all have to weigh up the information we're given and get on with it and sometimes accept the consequences. Even worse these days now we are all able to be "Google Doctors" . Sometimes even specialists don't get things right either. Four years ago my wife was told by two physiotherapists her piriformis was causing hip pain. Not long after it became so bad and x rays revealed the real issue. Her hip replacement went well, she was told by her surgeon never to run again. 1500 miles a year after the first year of recovery and on she goes. I've done 20 miles this week!!! |

Glad to hear that you're back running again Evangel, albeit slower than before your knee injury. It took me more than 12 months after my menisci tears in my right knee in 2017 before I could do more than walk and hobble. I've never regained my regular mid 70% WAVA standard, but am getting closer. Well done Steve for your 20 miles this week. I ran a solo 4 miles fartlek on roads this morning, working hard on the uphills and downhills. I've run 29.9 miles this week, 🤬 and 100 this month. |

Wow 20m this week is brilliant Steve I know it’s not the pace and as comfortable as you’d like but you’re out there and not giving in. To me that is a huge win. Great to see you back with some consistency too Ev, I am a firm believer in seeking advice and guidance from the professionals but seeing how you are after all we know our own bodies. My physio is a great believer in fixing yourself by doing specific strength training (or as my husband says keep looking for the person who agrees with me 🤣) I have a FB friend who was told recently crutches and no running for at least 12 weeks, 3 weeks later she’s out under guidance from her physio and is taking on The Berkeley next week, looking forward to seeing her. I’m running with the flanci boss lady & her friend who doesn’t run but power hikes she has a metal rod in her back after a helicopter accident when she was in service. There are some phenomenal people out there. Hoping some rubs off on me. I was going to run today but I confess to opting for an extra rest day and having extra tea instead were moving the boat to Brampton today then taking Ellie to the country park before heading to the pub for early tea. Some great parkrunning congrats on your SB LL About the chap I ran with he probably did slow & he wouldn’t have know I was pushing to keep up as it was manageable just not sustainable I enjoyed the chat though. He was just getting back after injury and was hoping to qualify for the Two Oceans marathon |

I passed my 700 mile target this morning so have upped it to 1000 miles for this year. Thought I’d look to see if there was an active forum for 1000 miles and I’m pleased to find this one 😁
