No frauding required MrsB just cross the start & finish knowing you’ve made it despite Covid trying to derail you. Just align your goals & try not to stress it’s not what you may have hoped for when you booked x

MrsB, good luck with Boston. Try not to worry about not hitting the target you set when entering. We are all subject to changes in circumstances, so have to adapt accordingly.

I did not hit my target in yesterday's Salisbury 10 miles road race, but was fairly happy overall. I set off strongly and was 2 minutes ahead of schedule until mile 7 when I started to slow. The last 3 miles were the slowest, whereas they are usually the quickest. I was 681 out of 827 finishers, and 6th out of 13 in the 70+ age category.

Hillstrider sorry you missed your target but happy you're happy. There's some speedy older runners out there isn't there.
I wonder how they train because you always do good sessions when you run and don't just go out for a bimble.

10.30 miling or thereabouts is pretty fabulous hs. Being two minutes ahead of your schedule seems to have induced the slowing down but heck, a tremendous run and glad you're pleased with it.
I suspect the speedier old timers were the youngest of the decade category (?).
From what I recall about the races you've done Mrsb you have nearly always pulled off a great result. No fraud! When's the race? Good luck with the associated training up to the start line .
You recovered from that arduous weekend gg?
I seem to be running every other day lately which wasn't a plan ; I'm pretty well certain that it's long covid and the lung damage I have that's ruined my efforts but on days like these getting out there is a joy.

Just seen that Boston is 17th April . I'm sure you won't overdo anything between now and then Mrsb, your long experience will serve you well .

Thanks FF and Steve.

You are right Steve, the 5 ahead of me were under 75. It seems unfair to me that awards only go up to 65 - 70 in most races. Occasionally 70 - 75, but never in my experience to 75 - 80. I would have been first if there was such a category.

Well done HS!

I am sure you will be fine Mrs B, just go, run and soak up the atmosphere.

Even getting out every other day is better than nothing Steve.

The snow didn't come to much, a few hail showers and a dusting this morning - which will now be gone. Just want it to warm up a bit. Core session this morning for me.

Mrsb maybe in some ways less pressure by not being in a position to pb. Just soak up the experience I’m sure your time will still be better than most.

Great race HS must be some very speedy 70’s.
I’m doing Southampton half on Sunday if I don’t decide to do the 10k. Completely undertrained and only arrive back after night flight on Thursday morning. When I booked it it should have been 3 weeks later and they moved the date forward.I have got the option of running it socially with a friend so may do that.

Fingers crossed for warmer days Lesley and glad the snow didn't come to much.
Half marathon on Sunday LL and undertrained?! Like you said though a social run is the option rather than trying to give it some welly. Overall you're running well so you never know how you'll feel until the race is on!
3.3 on a hilly route I've not done since November. I walked the steepest hill with no umph to run it! Nice outing in the early morning rain.
