I'm a bit envious of the miles being put in by nearly everyone! But then seeing the ice and minus 3c again this morning I lost the envy! Too old to fall! Yeah LL we'll try to catch up the lost miles.
I've had as many days off now as when I had a bad dose of covid!

Hillstrider my fall wasn’t due to ice as I’m in NZ which is quite hot at the moment. My fall has me black and blue but hoping it’s all superficial. Hard going up and down stairs but can walk on the flat. I volunteered today and walked the parkrun in 45:13 hoping I’m fit enough to run one next week in Tasmania.

Sorry that your fall has been this bad loo and hip you’re running in Tasmania sounds fabulous.
I’m now in Birmingham and helped out at the flanci stand last night and heading back soon for the main event.
I won’t be running this weekend but did do Mon-Fri despite the ice I just took it very steady and stuck to grass where i could. But 100% staying safe and upright is first priority I changed my plan yesterday as the path I needed was lethal.

LL, I'd forgotten that you were in NZ. That fall sounds nasty, although none are nice 😕. Well done for parkrun volunteering and walking 🚶♀️ the course. I hope that you will be fit for next week's run in Tasmania.
GG, well done for steady running during the week, despite the icy conditions. I agree that staying safe is the first priority.
It was minus 5 degrees when I set off this morning, and the road leading to the Inclosure was icy, and the grass was frosty, with long stretches of ice. I had to retrace my steps, as the long downhill slope that I had intended to run down was iced over from top to bottom. I've never seen anything like It in all the 44 years I've been running in the forest. I wanted to take some photos to post on here, but my hands were too cold, despite wearing thermal gloves.

Hello all, I've been reading but not posting. Well done all and I hope the slips and trips aren't too bad. I'm off running again with achilles issues this time, it had been an issue walking but been ok for the last couple of days but I noticed it again this morning after breakfast. I had hoped to go to parkrun but pleased I didn't in the end.

Sorry to hear about your Achilles problems now FF. Very wise, not doing the parkrun. Hopefully a few rest days will do the trick.

We've been away for the past week, and I've been busy catching up with everyone's news. So I thought I would pop in to say 'Hello' and share some of my news!
I was intending to have a 3rd go at returning to running this week. I did do 1ml. on Tuesday in 4 short jogs interspersed with walks, and I felt fine with no knee pain. Then Thursday at 8:50 the doctor phoned to tell me about the X-ray I'd had 9 days earlier. As well as the predictable Arthritis, there was a line shown, which may be from an old fracture, but he'd get the bone specialist to examine the X-ray. It's possible that I'd need a CT scan. So I thought I'd wait until I hear more, before doing more running. I certainly won't manage 1000 miles this year!
It seems fashionable to have falls. Heavy snow had fallen on Tuesday-Wednesday and then frozen. Well, this afternoon I decided to clear some of the snow off the drive. Just as I was about to start, I slipped and in about 1 second I was lying neatly on my back! Instinctively my arms must have gone back to ease the fall, and I had no injury to my back - I think. One elbow took a bit of a knock, but I was able to carry on within a few minutes. I'm sure God protected me in that moment!
