You do, HS, just like many of us septuagenarians. The highlights of my day today have been taking my wife for blood tests at 9am, and sorting out the re-cycling this evening. What an enviable and exciting life we lead. I'm sure younger folk here just can't wait to retire!!

I still have 30 odd years till I retire but I can't wait. We have been saving lots and can pay off our mortgage in the next 10 years so might be able to retire early.

I retired April 20 and it’s the best thing ever I don’t miss my old job for a second.

Although retirement has its benefits - like being able to choose what time in the day to run, and also for some, when to get up, there are disadvantages too, or as my mum loved to say, "Old age doesn't come alone!" As you age, your running pace gets slower, recovery takes longer, and niggles appear from nowhere. Thirty years ago, I could go out at lunchtime and run in temperatures of up to 30 degrees without a problem. Two days ago, I ran mid-afternoon and had to cut it short, because I found the heat too oppressive at maybe 23 degrees; I also had to stop every mile or so to stand under a tree for shade. Enjoy life before you reach that stage, but yes I do have a good and fulfilling life now, and I want to run for as many more years as possible.

Evangel I worked shifts for 26 years which included nights, weekends etc. Shifts are supposed to take 10 years off your life so I’m hoping to recoup some of those years by leaving earlyish. I’m still finding joy in going to bed at roughly the same time everyday and seeing mornings 🤣

I retired eight years ago and aside from my running pace now being hopeless compared with forty odd years ago I'm far more content than when I was working. I loved my work but the divorce from it was easy! I continued in a voluntary capacity for five years thereafter until covid ended it. The final separation was easy enough too! Of course the downside is that the years left are unknown ☹️😂! I'm like you in not missing it LL. Great bike riding there L, I'd like to ride more but I find the pullarva in putting on helmet and taking relevant kit with me is too much of a bother sometimes. Notwithstanding the traffic being a deterrent too! I don't mind the heat too much Evangel but I tend to have been out and back before the 20's hit. It was 16c early today and tolerable enough even though my pace is hopeless.

Not hopeless Steve I think we’re all lucky we can get out and do it regardless of pace.
I’m enjoying my cycling it’s a great way to venture further and see more but having been knocked off twice I’m aware of the dangers.
I have noticed an improvement in most drivers since the new law changes.

Evangel, during all my working years, I used to run in my lunch time, and in the summer time, often top and hatless. Nowadays, I wear a t shirt 👕 as I don't want my shoulders and back to burn, and a cap. I use factor 50 sun lotion now, whereas in the past, I didn't bother. Obviously we all slow with age, but it doesn't matter. By the application of WAVAS, we can compare our gradings with those in our prime.
LL, I used to enjoy cycling when I was younger, but I'm afraid that I'm too nervous nowadays to venture onto the roads. I tend
to keep my car driving to shorter distances too, whereas at one stage of my career, I was driving 100 miles a day.

The new slippers are very comfortable thanks Turkhish. I should have binned the old ones ages ago.
I never regretted taking voluntary redundancy, even though I did enjoy my working life.
