Good news on the minor niggle Lesley..
Thanks GG ..race went ok..it was very hot and hillier than I expected..and struggled last couple of mile..finished 1.31.05 for 10 miles... I was aiming for 1.25 so a bit below par..but given the conditons I will take it.
Looking forward to hearing about Norway FF..
Good running Steve..cant beat a trail run!..I did an old favourite yesterday ..4 mile trail run I had run since the dreaded covid outbreak.

Yeah us Brit’s are not used to hot weather. Checking forecast for Saturday it seems to be a bit cooler on my race route and even threat of rain come nightfall. Just hope it’s not like last years 19.5hrs of rain with odd dry patch.
Well done though on not being far off target and after you had been poorly too.

I checked the weather app I have when I got home this morning in the early hours. Tromso will be sunny Friday night but cloudy Saturday night for the marathon which is most frustrating. At least I won't have to worry about darkness though, sorry GG. Getting even more excited and really looking forward to it. I had moved Friday's run forward to tomorrow but I think I'll bin it and get my packing done. I'm starting work early tomorrow so I can leave early and get a few hours sleep before leaving home some time between 3 and 4am Friday.

Missing one run with that work plan sounds sensible FF. Hope it’s not cloudy for you it would be amazing to see 24hrs of sun.

There's a lot going on here, which is good to see Best of luck to the weekend racers, and looking forward to race reports.
Another hot sunny morning, and I did a hill reps session in the forest with 3 running friends. It comprised 6 x hills with 20 metres sprints on flat gravel track over the top. My hr's were surprisingly much lower than a similar session on a different hill on Saturday. Average hr 120 max 146. This compares with Saturdays average 155 max 171.

More good running from the threaders here.
Thanks Turkhish, I shall try to do the race report / blog justice.
HR's are funny things hillstrider with many things that can affect it, heat, cold, wind, climb, along with your health and mood.

3.2m woodland miles with a friend at lunchtime very warm out - bit of a shock to the system!

FF, I agree. I think that hr readings can be linked to those conditions you mentioned, irrespective of the efforts, mileage etc . I've looked back at my last race, the Salisbury 10 miles, and my hr readings were average 142 max 165, which is about what I expected. The average race pace was 9.34 minute miling.
Sounds good GG, a woodland run with a friend.

Yes GG your right the heat and especially humidity really mess with me running wise, I am usually all right for about 4-5 miles then I seem to struggle badly, but hopefully you will have some decent running weather for saturday not too hot not too wet!!!! And the best of luck.
Sounds like a good session as always HS...no running for me today I did some bootcamp type stuff at 6 this morning and I shall aim to get out for 6 tomorrow also for a run..

I hate the heat, the early mornings just now are actually quite warm. We have a local amateur weather forecaster who has little weather stations all over the place - his predictions are pretty accurate. I trust him rather than the MET office app.
It's light way before 4am up here, not dark till pretty late too. I love the light mornings but rather it was dark when I go to bed.
Good luck to you all for the weekend!!
