I have a midweek league race tonight and already bracing myself for a PW as I really don’t function well in the heat.

I suppose I don't really experience any real heat whilst running because I'm out nice and early. It was only 12c this morning but 17c in the glorious sunshine. I was back on the road route, varying my terrain and efforts as best I can while waiting for cardiology thing.
I've said it numerous times here..!!..I don't do chill temperatures very well. I loathe winter.
Yeah, so many factors impact on HR which is of course why it's wise to adjust efforts accordingly. I put some welly into my run this morning and thought, based on the various elements going on (PRE and HR) I was doing better than it actually turned out😂! Still, the miles are clicking by and it was a great start to the day.

Just looked..so it wasn't a PW and it kind of shows that you do handle heat better than you think LL. Good run there🏃😊

Thanks Steve I totally shocked myself with 58:30ish haven’t had official time yet. It was a hot one. I’d hoped for 62 minutes. I didn’t look at my watch once.

Average HR 171 high of 191 ( look away Steve) 🤣

That's a pretty good result then LL, well done. I do think we run better at times when we don't look at our watches. Looking at our pace can make us think we're going too fast and slow down so we don't burn out before the race ends. Then again it can be an incentive to keep going for a PB if your motivated. Once again well done on your SB.

FF I Totally agree if I’d seen my pace I’d have panicked and slowed down. The last time I did the midweek league was 5 years ago and I beat that time so very happy. Thanks.

Excellent stuff LL.

FF..I fall into that trap every time ...looking at my watch and worrying whether I am too fast or too slow..Im ok pacing on courses i have run before, unknown courses I usually get it wrong!

Excellent LL and you weren’t feeling it.

Agree on the watch, I did the virtual fetch 4k last month I set my watch for a beep at 1.25m so I didn’t have to look for turnaround point. Couldn’t believe my pace I was aiming for sub 26.30 and did 22.21! Didn’t know I could run that far at sub 9mm!

My watch will be on on Saturday but I am going to run to feel and try to ignore pace may put a different watch screen on.
