Think I'll join in if that's ok. I aimed for 500 last year and reached 700ish so I'm going to push the boat out and reach for the stars! (or something). Haven't managed a run so far but I'm sure I will once I get a bit of routine back in my life.

great! it works! thanks northernslowcoach! good to know it is possible to double yearly mileage and that it's not unrealistic - I wasn't sure whether I'd get busted by the running police for breaking the "10% rule" - i.e. no sudden increases in milage of more than 10% a week - incidentally, and although it might be a bit off-topic, does anyone have any instances of when they have broke the 10% rule and not got busted by the running police - I didn;t do any training for 10 days over Christmas then have just done my usual week of 17 miles with no problems
