Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

bedlam_g Knew early on a PB was out of the question but reckon I did a decent job of running the 1st half solo into an energy sapping strong headwind. In the 2nd half I made better use of the wind assistance than I expected, apart from an unexplainable 5th mile where I was convinced I'd maintained a sub 5.30 pace. Finished in 7th overall and 3rd Bella behind a PBing Russ and Scott who went storming past me near the finish. The only things I reckon I got wrong today were not going off with the group ahead and getting some shelter from the wind and seemingly losing concentration in the 5th mile. Strangely yet another low race heart rate last years Troon average was HR was 190 compared to this years 184, it still feels as tough.

Bruc£ Had a really good race at this one, with a 23 sec PB and felt fairly strong throughout and passed a few runners in the last few kms to finish 13th. Managed to run a negative split for the first time ever (18.06 out, 17.37 back) although this was made easier by the head wind/tail wind!!

In hindsight the very conservative first 5k were probably just right, as I was able to finish strongly.

Scored a freakin' awesome bright yellow t-shirt for finishing too. Well organised race and a great course. Will do this one again.

ChristopheD slightly disappointing - felt comfortable for 6k then died off - may be due to feeling dodgy this week and lack of training past 3 weeks.

KazzA Got a surprise PB so I am over the moon :-)
Great event, very well organised and lot's of support along the route. Course is relatively flat and nice t-shirt at the end.
Would definitely recommend this race and will be back.

The Belly Is Gaun Tae Get Ye Did not take serious enough from out-set. Started getting ready and found Ihad two left socks -OK no big deal.

Went to get shoes and discovered in my haste that I had picked up two different brands of trainers- one being my running shoe the other being OH' gardening shoe ( cross trainer) OK- big problem two right feet.
Decision- run barefoot or run in M & S black trainers used for work.
Felt pace good at easy effort and only started to blow in last K. The heavy trainers lost me 17 secs that would have taken me under 45 min and be regarded as a big plus at this stage of Ultra training.
