swittle In my top 3, all-time favourite events - ran it first in 1990, then 1991 and again in 2000. Highlight for me is running past the lowering, massive splendour of Dunstanburgh Castle.
*Yep, just as brilliant an event as it was 9 years ago - the mass start, the wind, wading, that castle and the never-ending beach at Alnmouth.*

kaysdee Sorry for losing the bets. Great, beautiful race, but struggled once again with breathing. Really bad today. Asthma? Checkup needed.

Really enjoyed the actual course and great challenge, would do again, although also felt bit miserable due to above issue.

Dave W First time I've done this race. Was a bit worried beforehand because I've not run 14 miles for some time. Set off nice and steady, and just kept on going. Managed to pick it up a bit after halfway, and actually ran a negative split, which was good given the headwinds on the last beach part. I'll go with the concensus that this might have been a bit short, but felt long because of the winds. Enjoyable run, and glad to say I was pleased with my efforts. May very well try again next year, as it really is corking scenery up there.

Middleman I found it hard going with the head wind. I was fine until about nine miles and my legs decided they were going to go slower. Never mind still enjoyed it though.

JillyB Northumberland Coastal Run. Lovely race but really hard and didn't drink enough.Collapsed at the finish and ended up in a trip in an ambulance. Lesson learned

Schnecke Missed out on this last year - really looking forward to running it this time. Don't care how long it takes - I'm just going to enjoy it! Update - it was fabulous, lovely weather (apart from the wind blowing us backwards in the last 2 miles across Alnmouth beach!) beautiful scenery, and lots and lots of lovely Fetchies!

Miss Sweden Gonna try to beat my time from 2007. Yippee! I did it! Not sure how, though, as I've done very little training since Edinburgh. It was a hot and clammy day, though not as hot as 2007. Found this quite tough, and had a well-poorly tummy by the end, but totally made up with my new PB :)

Velo Boy 1st timer; looking forward; i/c Pod. Not predicting a time. Update= what a lovely run. Ran with Pod, gently and slowly, as she is coming back from achilles tendonitis. Enjoyed just running rather than racing for a change. Avg bpm 132!

Northern Exile Heard that the race is going to be a bit longer this year due to tide condtions. However, last year's effort was my comeback race after injury and I think I can do better this time. I'll try for 1.48 and see how things go.

Stop Press: Things did not go as planned, first few miles were very hard (and wet!) plus I got cramp at mile 8. Not happy.

northernrunner bit of an odd race as there are parts where there is no set route and you just choose which way you want to go, was in 3rd place for about the first 3 or 4 minutes but then slipped back. heard so many things from so many people about this that i entered at the first chance and wish i hadnt bothered as i think the only bits i actually enjoyed were on the road. people have said they have done the london marathon just to be able to say they done it, well i think im the same with this race. done it once and that will do me. finished 20th

scrappy started with stitch 2 mile in & died off but came back worse at 10 mile making me pull over & run the last miles clutching my side, race was tough but the fantastic scenery & area made up for it..top race!
