Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That’s all I used for ages Pix. I’ve got a basic smart trainer now but I don’t put out a lot of power and it doesn’t seem very accurate at lower power levels-I sometimes turn off the erg mode and just ride it dumb!
You do earn points as you ride which can give you choices of kit, bikes and wheels. Even at a basic level there are some choices on the settings.

I’ve been using a standard turbo trainer (Elite HydroMag, about 8 years old) with a new (BLE) speed and cadence sensor set from Garmin. I run Zwift on an iPad and have the companion on my phone but depending what group I’m cycling with I usually use Discord, Zoom or WhatsApp for messaging.

so do the companion apps mean you can connect a headset and talk too? (assuming you are able to!)

Not on Zwift Companion, I don’t think. But Discord and Zoom you can.

LOL, EP - that was similar to my first questions on this. QUite surprised how "quiet" it all was. Still found it engaging enough to shell out for 1 month at least.

I found I needed to think about the physical layout - somewhere to have my phone close to hand for Zwift Companion stuff (or to play music!). Or even wear a cycling top with a pocket so I could ride and "ride on" at the same time. I think a fair few people use mounts on their bars to support an ipad / phone, which I suppose would make things easier. I've just not really bothered with the thumbs up stuff though.

It is paying me some real world dividends - at the weekend I rode a 36m route that I'd done mid April, whilst the weather wasn't 100% identical, I was 20mins faster over the route without making a conscious effort to ride any harder.

Back to Zwift tonight.

I’ve been using a music stand to rest the iPad and phone on.
