Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Appreciate the input Gobi!

I can't touch my toes if that helps? Tight hamstrings is probably right then. It's a miracle I can run...

In my unsophisticated way, the seat is "in the middle". It's not a set back seat post, I've never adjusted it one way or the other. I pushed the seat up by about 1cm for that video to get the knee angle (as best as I've calc'd it with my use of spots and the app) closer to 140deg, and I'd tend to agree that my hips don't rock side to side indicating it is in a broadly sensible place - any higher though and that would be happening.

In terms of riding on my toes, perhaps with the seat a little further forward and an experimental adjustment to the cleats (SPDs - not sure how much movement choice I've got) I can be on the balls of my feet a little more. I wonder though if my calves are "nervous" about pressing my heel down and extending my achilles?

On a different note, I'd never thought about it this way before, but presumably there's something of a link between VO2Max and power (or w/kg) in cycling too. Which is odd as I reckon my VO2Max of about 53-55 is on a par with some cyclists that can ride significantly quicker than I can. Obviously efficiency and weight have a big impact too which are less impactful in running, but broadly should I be looking at an FTP or w/kg number which is in line with my VO2Max to work towards?

Yes Larks - nearly all the good runners turned triathletes I know have become equivalently good cyclists.

here's what I know EP:

- I think you have to suffer in silence on FTP tests. Turn up your own tunes!

- here's the 'ride-on' manual
zwift.com

- typing I do on the Companion app. I think some people use voice activation on there too but I'm not at that level of sophistication!

- I think you have to do a lot of climbing to get a Tron bike. Gobi?

45 min ftp test ?

You play your own music

More than one machine running so can type on the companion app, but only when doing easy training

LED bike - 50000 metres of climbing but make sure you select the Everesting challenge

Simbil - some people are better cyclists than they were runners...

so what I saw on the ftp thing of just riding on roads and under water (that was cool watching the dolphins) is what you get unless you have a poncy smart trainer or even poncier one that elevates too?!

Zwift works better if you have power and a smart trainer

I don't have either Gobi!
I may try to save for a Wahoo Kickr which is £430 I believe but I would need to be convinced it's worth the money for a tail ender like me

there's really a category for everyone on Zwift. I have a more basic trainer (TacX vortex) that costs about half of that EP.
