Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I'm fairly new to Zwift WW and enjoying it to the point where I've coughed up for the monthly sub.
While it isn't as much fun as going on a ride with a bunch of mates, I find it a good alternative to yet another solo ride and we as a Tri club are doing quite a lot of meet ups on it as well, so there is a good social side to it.
I did invest in a Wahoo that a friend was getting rid of and it's definitely an improvement on a non-smart turbo. I justified the cost by the amount I've saved on commuting costs ;-)

Similar case with me. I've subscribed to continue to benefit from social side of the meetups with the Tri club and cycle club. It's that which makes me prefer it to other free apps. I doubt whether I will continue when we can do group rides outside, though I assume it's possible to resubscribe for a month if the weather is really bad.
One thing baffles me and that's seeing people running up the Alpe. Do their treadmills really get that steep or do they simulate the difficulty some other way?

EA - another new Zwifter here too. Mr Frag had a play, loved it so much he bought us a smart trainer (Tacx Neo) and has now built a new small pc dedicated to zwifting. It'll move to the garage in the winter where we'll have a proper pain cave set-up. Cant get my head round the companion app - if you can type out a conversation then surely you're not working hard enough ? ;-D

I did wonder how the social stuff worked / works. It was fun chasing the avatar that wa named as my sister, and we sent a few whatsapp messages (mainly to help with me sorting out the tech and finding her in the first place), but I think I was expecting Zwift to incorporate some use of the webcam or mic on the laptop etc to have a proper chat whilst we "gamed" together. As far as I could see, yuo could give "likes" (or whatever they are called) but is there any real messaging in the app (main or companion) to make it feel more collaborative?
