Mr. K.
Auburnette - Yes to running - only ran twice with Zwift & the new treadmill mind you.
I have been mainly watching YouTube videos of old running races but like you say it`s nice to look at the Zwift screen and see some interaction going on - same set up when I do virtual rides.
As a bit of a trail runner I like the backdrop in Watopia :-/

I tried the "run in the park" today at 9am - busy with UK parkrunners, about 75 in total. Good vibe and definitely did feel a bit like running in a group, I stuck with the run leader who did it as a kind of progressive run. Speeding up and a slowing down to stay with the pack definitely added something.
I have iFit virtual courses on my NordicTrack treadmill which I prefer to Zwift for solo training as the treadmill will adjust the incline in line with the course, but for virtual racing and group runs Zwift is definitely the way forward.

went up the Alpe for the 1st time today. It's so long since my bike has been on the little chainring (do you cyclists call it that?!) that the chain fell straight off and I lost over 2 mins on the group straight away! Will look for another opportunity soon as I carried on and really enjoyed it.
Nursing my right achilles having hurt my left earlier in the year. I'm pretty sure I've pinned it down to the way I sit with one leg tucked under my backside. OK until you sit on a hard chair at an office desk for a couple of hours. Numpty!

WW- I never saw you as a big ring hero, my road bikes live in the small chain ring and I only use the big ring if I am racing.
The Alpe is not bad, done it 6 times on Zwift now and broke 46 mins today, it is easier than the real thing but only a little bit :¬)

46 minutes is very impressive for the Alpe when you know the rider is being honest with their weight. Mighty effort Sir.

My hikes live in the small chain ring too. Mostly because I am weak!!
I was trying to explain to my lad about the benefits of spinning over turning through the big ring! I’m hoping he’ll get it soon.

Oh, maybe I should try the small ring more often then?! I really, really know nothing about modern cycling. I don’t think the freestyle bmx days of my teens are very relevant!
I did just under an hour. Clearly room for significant improvement! I used a group ride - was in last position after my mechanical and had great fun catching folks all the way up.
Can you just opt to ride the Alpe as a route or is a group ride the only way?

Alpe is only available individually above a certain level. It used to be level 12 but I’m fairly sure they’ve brought it down (to help spread people out, I assume). Might be level 6 now? It’s in the Watopia route options and if you qualify you can click on it as a route choice.
Reckon your BMX days will be more useful than you think. 2 tiny cogs and spinning like a madman from the start. Got your name all over it!!

Ah, ok. Thanks - I didn’t even realise you could do that route select thing. In fact I’m not even sure I knew you were able to make your own world choice.
I’m level 16 so the route up the Alpe is there. Brilliant. Thanks.
