Monty is back home. He had two grass seeds embedded in his paw. He’s still a bit groggy but happy to be home.

That's good news - grass seeds are such a nuisance.

I'm spending at least an hour each day on grooming (removing half a dog each time) because we've just reached the 'fall-out' phase of Jet's coat that happens every summer. The vacuum cleaner is also full of fur balls.

We're thinking that once there's a bit of space since we lost Ollie, and we have a suitable gap between holidays for initial training (we go for self catering cottages and take the dogs with us, so need to be confident a dog's fully housetrained and unlikely to chew the cottage to bits!) we'd like to get a springer puppy. We're retired now so have the time, and to date we've had three rescue springers - the youngest being three when we got him, so it would be good to have one from a pup.
Spending time with Lola helps sanity check our thinking!

Wanda has always had a very good coat and being a short haired dog has never really required much grooming/bathing. However in the last month or so she has become really scurfy/dandruff-y. She has had a bath but it's made no difference. She's not itchy with it.

I'm going to try to get a vets appointment soon (it's certainly not an emergency so suspect they won't book her in for maybe 10 days or so when I call) but I just wondered if anyone else has had this as their dog has got older? I'm wondering if it is some sort of hormone imbalance - or (and more worrying) something that is connected to the very strong medication/surgery earlier in the year although if the latter it's taken a relatively long time (a good 2-3 months) to become apparent.
