It was a bit strange this morning going for a walk - Mrs TR had Frankie as usual but I just looked after the poo bags!

As it was on the way I picked up Ollie's ashes on the way to our niece's to meet her 12 week old black and white springer puppy. Bittersweet (she's adorable heart )

Bit of a health scare with Stevie. He's developed a really weird cough, off to the V-E-T this morning and diagnosed with tracheal collapse. It's common in terriers of middle age apparently. Basically the cartilage in his windpipe has gone soft and soggy and when he gets excited he struggles to breathe. Not much fun to watch although he's otherwise fine in himself. He's had a jab which should help. He also gets to spend time in the bathroom when we're in the bath or shower, as apparently the steam will be good for him - he'll love that!

I keep meaning to post on here. My partner is a vet, and this year has seen a lot of dogs with grass seeds stuck in ears or paws. Especially what we as kids used to call ‘sticky darts’, which work their way inside ears. She’s not sure why there have been so many this year, but sometimes she can get them out if the dog complies, but sometimes it’s a general anaesthetic needed to get them out, if they are well lodged deep inside. Just thought I’d mention it, to check your pooch’s ears (and also particularly furry paws and in-between toes). She’s got the eye for it now, and even got hold of a dog (with the permission from the owner, I hasten to add!) and fished one out of its ear whilst on a dog walk the other day.

The way she describes them being dislodged sometimes is quite funny. She can sometime dislodge the seed a bit, the dog then violently shakes its head, and then a gunky, seedy projectile comes out at full speed, hitting the wall behind her.
