Last time was November. I assume that makes next time March. Am I right in thinking that doing a marathon a week later than donating would be ok, so long as I'm just planning to mosey round the marathon at a comfortable pace?

I wouldn't like to. Why not donate a week after the marathon instead of a week before?

Gave armfull number 45 a day before NYE.
I've had great experiences giving blood. I fainted after 2nd attempt, came round to loads of the nurses round me looking concerned and undoing my trousers (something to do with increasing circulation ;))
Then there was the time the needle "leaked" resulting with my claret heading onto the floor instead of the bag. Cue nurses rushing round to stem the bleeding. They still took a pint out of my other arm
I'm O+, common as muck, but its what they need most of. I also get the baby pack, as there is something in my blood that premature babies like.
I do like the mini blood mobiles, those caravans the use for sessions. They are a bit cramped, but quite friendly.
