I read that your blood volume increases as a response to training, so the haemogoblin is less concentrated and so you have fewer microgrammes per millilitre or whatevers. Also that the regular footstriking of running can cause breakdown of red cells jap.physiology.org |

Gave on NYE - good tactic for reducing alchol tolerance, bad tactic for completing last run of Decemberthon. Offered me an appointement for 2 days before a half mara...

I gave two weeks ago. So my last few runs have been a bit laboured. But I am in 'smugmode'

Nick, that's brilliant. So why did ScotBlood tell me it wasn't possible. Don't tell me Eng Blood have done it and Scotland haven't. I'm gonna follow this up and if it i the case then it's the stupidest example of parochiality (by us Scots) that I have ever heard of. Watch this space. :- G |

I'm up at about 40 pints but the last twice I've been they've refused me as my iron count was low. Can't imagine why this is as I can't thinb of anything that has changed in my diet etc. The donor bus is coming to my work though on 22/1 so I'll find out then if the problem is still ongoing. Might have to start taking an iron supplement.

Quick bump for this thread with some stats (we love our stats, don't we?!) O+ is most common, but don't think that means you shouldn't give, cos it's also the most needed. ANd currently B- has lowest number of days stock left. 15 Jan 2009 Group Days Stock O pos 4.95 O neg 4.13 A pos 6.99 A neg 5.54 B pos 6.70 B neg 3.81 AB pos 9.78 AB neg 5.55 So you B- types, give, give, give! :-)G |
