Prior to that I had about 20 years of fails due to having spent time in “dubious” locations within the qualifying period (usually Turkey and the wider middle east, although a couple of times for South America)…

I've got an appointment to have a health check including bloods at my GP's surgery on Thursday (our local practice is excellent). I did have an artefactually low Hb once before, a long time ago, but that was only a 3 month ban and it was normal when I had a proper venous sample taken by my GP. The buzzy one hasn't tried to donate since receiving his diagnosis and being started on treatment.
