Ground HogFather
Had to cancel my last appointment a week last friday as I arrived in town feeling a tickle in my throat. Took the safe option and glad I did as I was down with really bad flu from the next day, spending the next 4 days in bed. I'm still not over the flu, so I won't be booking a donation until I feel well.

Raptors claws are coming to town
Good planning, folks, and a wise decision, @Groundhog. As I expected, my haemoglobin and ferritin are normal and I've 'phoned to ask to be unbanned. Hopefully that'll happen quickly and I can get a donation in before the end of the year. The same page on the website is telling me to make an appointment straight away because they're desperately short of my type of blood and telling me I may not make an appointment before 17th December 2025. |

Well done Vrap. Glad to hear all well, as you expected. How did the measurement go wrong, do you know? ![]() |

Raptors claws are coming to town
It's a recognised thing, @HappyG(rrr). Even on the leaflet I was given it lists "testing procedure" as a reason for an abnormal result. It wasn't the practitioner's technique. She got a good big drop of blood out of my finger for each test. As I've said, not the first time it's happened to me and I wonder whether two rogue low measurements in 85 attempts to donate is just to be expected statistically. And it means I now know that my sugar and cholesterol and thyroid and other such useful things are normal too. |
