Pretty much. You can get a slightly metallic taste in your mouth from the short acting anticoagulant they use, and it takes longer..... And if you find equipment interesting, the machine itself is fascinating. Oh, and it takes a bit longer!

I looked into donating plasma, because I don't run well for a week after donating blood. The interesting fact I learnt is that at the correct healthy weight for my height, I was in fact, underweight for plasma donating. Plus it also meant a trip into Manchester to the main offices and 45 minutes draining time.

well, that was disappointing!
went to donate plasma this AM but it turns out they couldn't find a vein big enough for the needle
oh well, i'll register to donate blood instead.

Hurrah, after three refusals due to low iron, I finally donated last night, which makes it about a year since I was last gave blood. All pretty straightforward, even with additional Covid-19 precautions and once I was in the chair and bagged up, it went very quickly.
The chap looking after me called me 'hen'
