Velociraptor
I was approached about platelet donation once, a long time ago. Twitched me a bit, because the lass started by asking me my weight and I thought I was about to be rumbled for being a little under 50kg. "Just over eight stone," I flustered, and she told me she'd thought I might be over nine stone and able to donate platelets.

Peregrinator, I was the same, about 1 year ago, gave my sample for platelets but result was not rich enough. They said it wasn't a problem for me, but just wouldn't be worth their while for them. Wouldn't get enough out of me. G

eL Bee!
I was turned down for platelets for the same reason as HappyG.
But because I am the Universal Donor type for plasma, I did that for a while when we lived in Brum.
I'd have to go to Newcastle here to donate plasma

Fragile Do Not Bend
I’ve an appointment after work, but I’m in two minds as to whether I’ve caught a cold off my husband and therefore whether to go. One minute I feel a bit ‘meh’ and a bit throat-y the next minute I feel fine.
It’s a pain as I’m just starting my ultra training plan so I might have to wait until the summer to donate.

Donated yesterday for the first time in about 18 months! Hooray! (Not out of laziness; I go every 4 months or so but my iron levels can be borderline on the low side so not every visit is a successful donation)

The last time I donated there was a wee poster about platelets and it said they were only looking for blokes.
Well done Wednesday. I take over the counter iron tablets now after my ban to keep me topped up.

I found a session in a nearby town on Wednesday so cancelled this evening’s one. No point taking a chance.

Well done Fetch for booking straight away after this week's podcast. And Lipgloss says she's going to enquire again after a previous medical reason for no longer being able to donate.
Hoping we get some more donators after my bleat on the podcast! G

Started giving whole blood in the early 1980s - employer allowed time away from work to do so. Continued giving in Liverpool and donated plasma and then platelets until the early 00s. Was given a Wedgwood plate for 100 plasma donations but when, I don't know.
Medicine put an end to me giving.
