Quick question relating to donation - should have asked before now as I'ce given over 30 times! Is there any food / supplement that can assist recovery from donating? I'm due to donate next Tuesday and have a half marathon the following Sunday. Normally should be okay after a day or two but should I be looking for something to help meback to "normal" levels of haemoglobin etc ?

Yes claire - in a way, it's a bit pointless. It's really for those who forget to give, for the Blood folk to contact them and give them a wee reminder. But when you give regularly, you of course can't give again.

(Congrats on the F Scottish 5K TT record - that is you, isn't it on the parkrun website, with the posh middle name?!) :-)G

I just got a request to give on Friday 6th Feb, but I've got the Wokingham Half on the Sunday after. So I'm going to wait til the beginning of March to donate.

Croc, sorry, don't know the answer to this. I do feel like I've seen people discussing iron levels adn things but not sure what aids recovery. I feel fine 24 hours later, train after 2 days adn would race the following weekend quite happily. But everyone reacts differently of course. Sorry can't help.

Can anyone beat 4 mins (don't spoil it Jacs by saying it's not a race - course it is, everything in life is a race. Ask my gf!) This is a joke btw, don't go slitting your arms trying to give a pint in 10s flat! :-)G

HappyG - just checked with BTS guys - say should be okay by weekend as long as don't change diet and keep well hydrated after donating. Suits me.
