He's an instructor at an outdoor activity centre that does KS2 residentials - so age 7-11. Asked him how his week had been - a difficult one he said. He'd had a group with several on the autistic spectrum, one girl who is in remission from cancer and had found out at beginning of week that her stoma bag would be lifelong, and another girl who's mother is in hospital after a serious motorbike accident. Difficult he said, but rewarding, finding ways to give all those kids an experience that would lift them above the struggles of their everyday life. I'm proud of him and his priorities in life, and it gave me a lift.
