Simple pleasures this morning. The sun is shining brightly and when I opened the back door at 6am there was a lovely early morning freshness to the air. As I took the dog outside one of our resident flocks of geese flew over on their way to the lake, calling to each other, and it reminded me how fortunate I am to live in 'pleasant pastures'.

I'm smiling at my dog telling me 15 minutes before Mr arrive home, that he's on his way. Given that the dog is a bit deaf, and Mr was driving back on a dual carriageway from 15 mile away, I remain amazed at the ability that defies logic. How do they know?

If it's the same time each day then it's due to the tail off in the smell of their owner as the day progresses. They get to know how far the smell has dissipated when the owner is due to return.
