Just over 354000, so even more difficult than previous years to get a ballot place.

and it is only Tuesday - it will be interesting to see how far this goes. It is great to make the sport accessible, but does this really help in it this way?

From my perspective, I was too late to get into the ballot for the last 2 years, shrugged and moved on. I was unsuccessful in the ballot for 4 years before that, so fully aware of the odds! On this basis, it becomes a real lottery!

Hardly money making, one of the cheapest entry fees on the marathon circuit.

Considering they much be sending out 1000s of rejection mags (mostly to people who didn't donate anything), they can't be cheap to print (even with heavy sponsorship paying for most if not all of them)

NY charges $11 as an admin fee just to enter the ballot so they're pulling in say $2m from ballot entries before they even charge the $325 / £220 or whatever it is to successful applicants.

Most of my races are not for charity however, I do like to put on a charity vest for London. I have a few charities that I support - small ones who have helped my family when our daughter was seriously ill after she was born. So, it's a way of giving them something back.

It's a pity that there is a monopoly of charities who completely dominate the golden bond places and that all smaller charities can hope for is a silver bond place (one every five years) or that someone runs for them having got in through the ballot.

I always thought the ballot entry system had around 14-16k spots in total as bare in mind there are a lot of charity spots and then there are a chunk of faster elites and GFAers as well as defered people from previous year too.

I see that the ballot will be open from May 4 to 8 but does not specify whether there will be a cap ...
