Do we know how many places there are for ballot entries? Just working out the percentage chance of people getting in.

I'm no too sure. When I have been asked by non-running friends, I used to say it was 37,000 (starters) minus all the elite, GFA, deferred, overseas, golden bond, silver bond and club places. Then it was that final figure compared with the previous maximum of 120,000 ballot places - let's say hypothetically a one in eight chance. Assuming that the other entries have not changed in number, and that the first ballot entry this year was 100001, Old Croc may have secured a ballot place in excess of 220,000.
I know my figures are not exact, but it should give some indication as to how difficult it is to get in. Bring back the five rejections rule then at least we have something positive to look forward to, abeit in a few years' time.

Just entered, was planning to enter yesterday but for various reasons wasn't able to. Not expecting to race it next year but you never know.

so it could be one in 10. To be honest it's not great, but it's possible. Better than the lottery!
