Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

(And I've just seen this addressed in the thread, but it could do with being prominent in the instructions on the page)

Are you “rural” by any chance @One Thousand Odd Spiders ?
I’ve given up (:-)) as Garmin doesn’t seem able to find a satellite at my start point and shows me setting off from neighbours’ gardens. I’m not sure what the answer is, if there is one.

It was pretty rural for this one - I was being a taxi home for friends finishing the Dales Way so stopped off to have a go at this on the way up. Might be part of it I guess - the start of your GPS trace is usually the wonky bit in any case (I also didn't for example directly wander through the hedge onto the 60mph road as the recorded route might suggest)

@Drell I've amended the page for each course, so that when you put your mouse over the list of flags, each flag is shown in isolation on the map.

@One Thousand Odd Spiders the game guide says "All you need to do is start your run, ride or walk from within 20 metres of the start flag".

Nada so far. The start at the foot of the steps outside Havant Train Station can only be 3 meters difference, as the steps are that wide.
Looks like my Coros watch may not be correctly logging my route.
The 20m limit might prove a problem with this one.

Apologies for the spam @fetcheveryone
Waited overnight to see if it popped up but nope.
And it's not GPS bounce:

I'm at a loss to see what's gone wrong.

Had a second go at completing my own course. First one failed because I didn't know you needed to start at the start points, not just go through it. I see I'm not the only one!

This time I tried to fix that. No notifications or anything. If it did recognise an attempt at doing a course, where would it tell you? Where do you see this 2/10 type stuff?

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
I had an idea the other day whilst walking with Katie. A lot of Fetch games rely on randomly-placed markers to encourage you to vary your routes - but what if you could design your own virtual orienteering course? Drop a dozen or so virtual flags on the map, and then you've got a challenge for yourself and anyone else who is passing through the area.

I've built some pages that allow you to construct a course:

fetcheveryone.com/ori

There are some notes on that page ...
