I completed race to the Castle at 3am Sunday morning a mere 19hrs 36min and in true trail form over distance at 64.64m they also appeared to sneak in double the advertised elevation - a straw poll on FB seemed those who answered were in similar ball parks. Mind you I’d have been gutted if it came up short. Weather & conditions were against us but not once did my mind falter. The focus was on the goal. I had my feet patched up and a particularly nasty blister on my right foot had me moving with toes curled for around 12-13m eventually my mind blocked it out. But by Tuesday I was walking almost normally and yesterday back in trainers. I’ll attempt to move at running pace tomorrow. Thanks for advice and tips along the way. |
