Meanwhile, my friend who is also moving to Derbyshire has had a strange spanner in the works. Their solicitor has just informed them that their buyer has only put down 6k deposit instead of 43k, they should have exchanged contracts today!

That’s not uncommon but should have been agreed in advance (assuming the rest of the funds are coming from mortgage funding)

Yeah we had a lowish deposit from our buyer but it was agreed up front.

Apparently our vendors are waiting for their new mortgage offer to be approved. Which slightly begs the question why was the estate agent chasing us earlier this week. FFS. So no exchange yet
