I think strictly in the Olympics you can get over in any way possible - it's just not quicker to do it hands and knees!!

I use the step on technique the one time I did it as it's what I practiced. Ironically I'd have been better off just hurdling as at race speed I was getting high enough to make stepping awkward.

I've watched some pretty hilarious attempts at county champs. Usually the SenM event has fewer than 3 entries so at least one of the participants is doing it to bag a medal by default with zero ability.

It is the key spectator event at our Serpie matches. I think the comedy element is what appeals rather than the athletic prowess on display. It is surprisingly popular with our non athletic running club.

We had a 110 metre hurdler who would trott round the 3000 steeplechase, he could hurdle the water jump and keep his feet dry.

Funnily I just entered the Scottish masters 3000m steeplechase today. Only run it once in the last 30 years 😂 Ooops.
