Hi Guys
I am might be doing a 6 hour race on a track, and I wanted to know what kind of training people do for these kind of events. Wisdom says not to train on the track to avoid overloading the body the same way it is going to be during the race.
What is people's experience on the matter and is there any good advice you can give me?

is that crawley you are doing or is there another I dont know about? I didnt train any differently than I would for a normal ultra
Its going to be diff for everyone as a slow runner would prob just do marathon training cos they would not go much more than marathon but for you I would have thought train how you would for a 50 mile flat race.
I thought I would get bored but it was fine but then I am not fussed about scenery when running. So I didnt need to do any mental training. If you are not normally good on laps then you might want to train doing short laps.
When I did the 24 hour track race there was at least one person who was a v good runner and had done some really hard core 100s who stopped in the early hours as she was struggling with it mentally.
SOme people say they are slower on track marathons than normal ones as they get bored and lose concentration, I havnt had that issue, I tend to be faster. Again, if you fall into the not keen on laps and like scenery camp then train doing loops.
