Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Me neither!

That's a vastly more than respectable time especially considering no blocks, no practice, no spikes - well done sir!

Thanks, Sharkie, much appreciated! Actually, one thing I got absolutely spot-on was my footwear. I ended up wearing a pair of New Balance Minimus Trail shoes, like these https://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Balance-Minimus-Trail-Running/dp/B07KX64VNJ/ref=asc_df_B07NRY529S/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=345472269288&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17772178938730424243&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045090&hvtargid=pla-644794995590&th=1&psc=1, but an older model. They're absolutely flat and minimal, but have a ferocious grip and worked beautifully on the rubberised track surface.

I managed to find the link in that para! Yep, they look quite useful. I ran my first 100m ever age 54ish in a pair of Nike Frees. I jumped in the air when the gun went off!

Just seen your post on the track runners thread - that's exactly what I was talking about a page back - you HAVE to commit straight away.

Did you enjoy it?

Yes I did, thanks, very much. I'd love to do one again soon, and feel I could improve a fair bit on the time just by running it better, knowing what I'm doing a bit more. Someone from my running club filmed the end of the race and it's bizarre to see me overtaking people at some pace, as I was actually accelerating at that point, which is just daft! Don't know what normal splits are for a 100 metres, but I'm pretty sure my second 50m was faster than my first.

Got something to say?
