Impressive, Markgall! The way I've had my best 5K times is when I've gone out 'too fast' and just about managed to hang on. It's a recipe for disaster with longer distances, though.

Next up for me is Midland Masters 5000 on Sunday. Just had to have a couple of days off thanks to the Covid Vaccine (1st dose), which made me feel like I had a nasty hangover. I probably would have been ok to run today, but not until after lunch and it was a bit hot so I played safe and spent the afternoon doing errands and meal prep instead.

Thanks everyone, appreciate. 3000m this Friday has been moved to a different track as Glasgow still under partial lockdown. Think I may give my PB of 9.48 an attempt but the 3000 is a hell of an event if you get the pacing wrong 😂

For 9.45 I’d be looking at laps of 78. A fine line with that, if I banged out a couple of 76s them I think I’d crumble whereas if I started dropping over 80 I’d find it tough to bring it back.

On my 5k I did first 2ks in 3.20k whereas I’d been aiming just under 3.30. Knew I needed 3.24 for 17 dead, 3rd and 4th fell to 3.23 and 3.24 then a 3.13 to finish off. The 4th was the real tough one, legs and head were all over the place. Adrenalin kicked in for the last one. Was slightly over distance so has an extra 8 seconds so just as well I’d hammered the last k.
