Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Vet is 35 these days and there's certainly a few 35s and 40s running rapid 8s and 15s. Not sure how vet league works with age group though.

I've signed up to MMAC :-o

Vets leagues usually have A and B string for the youngest age group which is 35 - 49. Unsurprisingly, the athletes closer to 50 often run B string. But not always, and you can compete ‘down’ an age group for your club. Depends who you’ve got available.

Raffo, my partner, and I were looking at some old results this morning. He sprinted for about six years from his mid 40s. He won’t have it but he was pretty good and age 50 was asked to run in the A string 200m. He was third with 26.4.

He turns 60 next year - wish I could persuade him to take it up again as he hates road running.

Vets league events were run in age groups in 2019 and I raced younger people a few times. New club is strong and is why I joined as planning ahead, years not weeks etc..

We sadly don't have anything like vets leagues up here in Scotland. Only option for a race is an open graded where you end up running against 13 year olds, never really an option to run against your age group peers.

I’m only familiar with Southern Counties - but it’s an association of pretty strong leagues. Competition is generally quite tough, there are a lot of world class (for age) athletes.

I always say I’m like a footie club desperately trying to stay up in the premiership.
