Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

markgall, hard luck on that. Can't think that one lap would cost you 6 seconds, though, would it? Still seems a mighty impressive time to me!

I was feeling so lousy today, nauseous and migrainous, that I almost didn't bother with the 800m, and having gone there, did a very half-hearted warmup. But I'm glad I did, as I ended up running a much better paced race than my previous attempts at the distance, with a deliberately relaxed first lap in 70s and a second in 73s, to give me a time of 2:23.0, 1.12s faster than my previous PB. I think 2:20 might have been within reach if I'd been feeling better. Looking forward to the next chance at the distance now.

Frustrating, markgall, but good that you can identify where it went wrong so you can guard against that next time.

J2R – great result, especially given how you were feeling beforehand. Just goes to show that going in more relaxed and with fewer expectations can have a positive impact on performance. Such a hard balance to get, though!

Well done J2R and unlucky Mark, but early in the season so plenty of time to work on it.

I'm quite anxious about tomorrow now. Not expecting much, and don't get pre race nerves normally, but the tracks different. Always feel totally exposed.

Well done on PB J2R 👍
Yeah, decent enough for a first run out, just no idea when I’ll get another one. Lack of 3ks here.

That was tough today in that heat.

Possible pb in the 800. Ran a 65 first lap but my friend said he clocked it at 2.16/17 when I crossed so hopefully. (Came 11th out of 12. 12th tried to go past in the final 100 but I had a kick).

Came 3rd in the SC with 11.46ish. Loved it. Cleared every barrier and only put my foot on the water barrier a few times to test which way worked better. Definitely my new favourite event.

Then came last in the 4x100. I got switched out the 4x400 at the last second to do the glory leg in the 100. No glory to be had as I was already in last place by 50m when I got the baton but reeled him in a bit.

Class day Roberto 👏 I have a 3000m steeplechase next month in the Scottish Masters, I’ve only done one in the last 20 years but great fun. My legs too short to hurdle sadly 😂

Sounds like a tough but fun day, Roberto. I watched a couple of steeplechase events yesterday and wondered about giving it a go some time. Slightly easier for me at 60, because the barriers are only 30 inches, not 36, which helps!

2.17.3 in the 800. Previous pb was 2.17.7.

11.46.0 in the SC.
