It’s the little things, but I just got excited about a new parkrun.
I’m in Netherlands over Xmas, and have previously done 3 different parkruns in NL. My OH’s parents live in a lovely town called Zwolle, but there has been no parkrun within around an hour.
Just had a look though, and there is the relatively new Wezenlanden parkrun. It’s had 11 events, and Google is telling me it’s 1.7km from their house, which is a result!
Interesting AG stats and name of last week’s first finisher though!

According to OH, ‘de Hond’ (the dog) is actually a surname in NL, which I didn’t know. The name could therefore be correct, but age grading/age presumably not.

Groundhog
On the road again this weekend and visiting our son in Bristol for his birthday. I think he wants to have a lie in so I'll do a parkrun on the way, possibly Chippenham.

OO61, nice. Which ones have you done in NL?
I’ve done Stadspark (Groningen), Sonsbeek (Arnhem) and Goffert (Nijmegen). All very nice, in lovely parks, and recommended. For all of them we were in the campervan, and for Stadspark there is a site close by with a decent checkout time, so I ran there and back, had a shower and breakfast afterwards, and then we left. They were a small event and had no cafe closeby, so the organisers brought large flasks of tea, coffee and cakes/biscuits. Sonsbeek we were there on Xmas eve.
This time I’ll be doing Wezenlanden and probably Zuiderpark parkrun, Hoogeveen, which is 35mins drive away from OH’s parents’ house, and is also fairly new (less than a year old). Next year in terms of attending foreign parkruns, hoping for Vilnius and Copenhagen as I’m there for the marathons anyway.
