New pb this morning on deadlift with bands, two sets of 55kg x 6, followed by two sets of 60kg x 6. Then four sets of 55kg x 6 for deficit deadlift. Happy bunny today

I think deadlifts are the most satisfying - knowing you could dispose of the body 😉 I also find atlas stones really satisfying, knowing you can throw around balls of concrete!

I do like deadlifts. I had trouble with my grip and used straps for a while, but I've been working on my grip and don't use the straps very often now. I hate push presses and feel like I'm not progressing on them, but I'm not going to progress if I stop doing them, so carrying on! Some of it is confidence in getting something above your head, I'm sure.

I'm fairly rubbish at going low on squats, but my coach says I'll still be getting the benefit not going so low, and given my training is for not being a creaky old lady and improving my running strength rather than competing in strongwoman comps, I'll take a feeble squat over nothing.

Exactly right, Quimby. I have a somewhat restricted range of motion because of my resurfaced hip so I have the bar slightly raised up. Mr Ness says I'm still getting benefits from doing the lifts. This is a photo of my setup in my home gym.....

And a couple of me lifting...

They are from a while ago but I've only increased the weight I'm lifting a bit since then.

I remember you set up Ness, I recall the bar is resting on old books?

My trainer has specifically told me to raise the bar so I'm less bent over on the initial deadlift. I now have two dedicated inverted flower pots which the weights (rather than the bar) sit in.

Fabulous efforts with your deadlifts everyone! I also have a slightly raised bar to protect an old back injury. But I found using a hex bar/trap bar much easier and I can raise that from the floor. It's also a nice variation and I think allows me to lift a bit heavier.
