I was going to follow CG's EPIC programme, but I've been persuaded to continue going to the gym by my coach - she has nothing against CG, but I've got a plan and I am making gains with it. It was the getting out the door early enough to get to the gym when it was nearly empty that was getting in the way - I go an hour earlier now and it's helped. I've enjoyed my 2 sessions so far this week. I had DOMS for 3 days after doing the EPIC beginner leg day. |

I think that's the important thing, cathrobinson. I'm trying to be consistent. I'm sticking to my usual Monday, Wednesday, Friday sets. Sometimes the Saturday body pump session seems like it might be a bit too much (the day before a race, for example). Then, rather than miss a session, I've been doing one of the CG upper body workouts. They're tough but very good.

Just done Day 11 legs. As noted in my log: Basically 3 million assorted lunges, plus bit of calf. FUCKIN 'ELL. Will write up later - rushing off to meet Beans. No time for w/u or c/d.

I didn't suffer at all after all those lunges (strong legs and bum) but today's CG workout - Day 12 is probably the one I have most struggled with. I was almost defeated. Triceps and pecs mainly - but so much of it that lying on your back throughout didn't help at all. Tricep dips at the end: I usually have no problem with keeping my legs out straight, but today I had to bend at the knee with feet flat on floor (which is easier) I suspect my mistake was being too ambitious with the weights. I didn't think 5s and 6s would be heavy for most of the workout - but they were. 5s sound light to me - I always think of 6 being the start of respectable for most things! But that's actually daft and certainly daft for someone of my build. I think we need to be aware of what our own basic structure is. I've got long arms - shorter levers are MUCH more help when lifting weights. Next time I have a similar workout I will start lighter. That doesn't mean I can excuse myself on anything leg based. |

Am actually slightly annoyed with myself I as I bet it would have been MORE USEFUL with lighter weights and therefore better form. Ah well, learning process, like most things. |

Deadlift pb for me today! 92.5kg. I'd love to get up to 100kg but I think that I need to make sure that my core and lower back can handle it.
