Have suddenly got into a bit of a routine (touch wood) with the Caroline Girvan workouts discovered via geordiegirl. The series I'm using has 60 workouts - she does 5 a week, as I said a few pages back I'm aiming for 5 - 6 a fortnight. I'm carefully recording the weights I use as they're MUCH lighter than hers, and I am hoping by the end of the series to have upped some of them as/IF I get stronger. I'm slightly compromised by what's available at the flat. The dumbbells here at the seaside are heavier - going up to a pair of 10kgs and I can only manage those on some of the squats. ANYWAY I'm thinking of doing 'my' day 7 later using her day 8 - glutes and hammies, swapping it for her day 7 -shoulders and triceps, which I will do Wednesday when I'm back at the flat with only the lighter weights. Should be ok swapping these two -obvs I used glutes and hammies sprinting yesterday - but the last legs weights session (quads dominating) was Sat. I want to keep up the momentum while I am -just about - keen. |

Thanks for plugging CG, off the recommendation of gg, Sharkie. I've opted for her EPIC programme - starting with the Beginners this week as I'll be away from home for much of it and it gives a taster of the next programme (5 sessions x 10 weeks). I'm finding it difficult to get to the gym each day at the "best time" - ie when it isn't busy and I can get on all the equipment I want to use - so have decided to do at home training for a while and CG fits the bill nicely.

Ooh, interesting, GimmeMedals - I used the Iron series as that was the first I saw. I've just had a quick peek at the one you are doing, looks very useful if you are away from home and have minima or no equipment handy. Please post how it goes! |

In a little thread crossover, we are having a major clear out of the garage today; our plan is to buy a squat rack with cable for home use. This way we can get into the garage for a short session for the times that we don’t have time to get to an actual gym.

I've just done Day 1/5 of the EPIC beginners bodyweight programme. It was clearly legs day. I didn't know there were *that* many variations of lunges and squats. My legs may not work tomorrow - which will be fun as I've got a 5 hour car drive to do...
