Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I went on an Olympic Lifting workshop as CPD for work. Absolutely loved it. Going to try to put all that into practice now.

What did you learn that was new, Corrah?

I did Olympic lifts as part of my Sprints and Jumps training. Not ALL of them admittedly! I assume several on here do at least some of them too.

Must admit getting back into proper, consistent strength work is helping my dancing!

Who'd a thunk it?

Well, me, for one. Many classical ballet dancers do weight training!

Did a sportive this weekend with some friends. We all agreed that strength training really helped us get round, despite lack of specific cycle training.

Sharkie we tried differed deadlifts, clean, snatch and jerk. I had a bit of knowledge, but it was all about the proper movement patterns.

Thanks everyone, it means a lot. I haven't been able to do much running this year due to injury so I've been working on strength. I'm hoping that it well help my running eventually. For those of you who deadlift, try it with a trap bar... I think you'll lift more. I couldn't do that weight with a standard deadlift.

I think that it absolutely doesn't matter how heavy you go as long as you are challenged by the weight. We're all different ages, builds, experiences, and time available to us. Anything that you can do, whenever you can do it, is good. Not just for running but for all aspects of life.

NavyAl I love using trap bar but we alternate every 8 weeks between trap bar and deadlifting .

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.
