Agreed. Others have. But in point of fact we aren't, and it's a bit hyperbolic to say we are.

Or we would be. Labour haven't won anything yet.

Now Jenrick threatening to take us out of the ECHR. I hope that any Tory voters realise that this impacts their own human rights, not just asylum seekers.

Just when you think they can’t get worse…

Way back, when the Brexit campaign was in full swing and leavers were talking about getting rid of red tape and controlling the labour market as a bonus not that many people, I think really understood that but red tape they meant 'your rights and protection' and by 'labour market' they meant you.

They presented the EU as the bogeyman to get people to vote against their interests.

Fast forward to now. Brexit has failed to deliver the wholesale screwing of people so now immigrants are the new Trojan horse that this lot want to use to further sever the lingering ties with the EU.

I'd say leaving the ECHR should be a thing so serious that a referendum should be required, but if that happens and we leave it then getting back in is well you know. If this shower take us out unilaterally then it'll be legit for the next gov. To slide back in.

Not saying this is the whole reason for whipping up hate against migrants, but I think there is an element of it.

Leaving the ECHR would have serious implications for peace in Ireland under the Good Friday Agreement. This is not a serious proposal.

You have people like Labour Peer Alf Dubs, who was on the kindertransport and has spent decades fighting for the rights of refugees, and you have Tories like Patel, Raab C Brexit, Sunak, Zahawi and Braverman who are the children of migrants or refugees who seem to hate refugees with a passion, or at the very least, pretend to do so for purely personal advantage.
And people say the two parties are "just the same really". There's something very broken in the minds of Tory politicians.

JB - philosophically, the two parties are not the same, obviously. But Labour is prepared to continue with policies introduced by those 'very broken minds'. Can you not accept this as valid criticism?
