Thanks guys, really nice to have your congratulations I finally feel qualified to comment on training and stuff, now I've done it. Only took me 4 goes at it I left JonT to announce his own time as he did bloody well. It was great to bump into him at the start and have a bit of a chat. He did then sail off into the distance as I am comprehensively rubbish up any incline. Good to see him in the finish area to give him a slap on the back. VLMers, my tip for the final week is do as little running as possible and get some good stretching in. It really helped me that my legs didn't tighten up too much in the last miles. |

Hi guys, I dropped in here a week or so ago to say that I think I will join this group in the run up to Abingdon. First I had to improve my PB of 4:09. I did this yesterday in Brighton...and now have a PB of 3:34:41. very pleasing as i did this when I had no time goal other than to beat 4hrs. Blog of race is here http://www.fetcheveryone.com/blog_other.php?id=39328 if you do not mind I will stick around an try and pick up tips from you all. Ithink sub 3:30 is now very possible. Its great to see a lot of you folks making the sub 3:30 when you have focused on it !!! I hope to do the same... |

Welcome AGF. With your time at Brighton, I think you should be feeling confident for Abingdon, which I believe is a bit flatter than yesterday. Sailing off into the distance? Me, never let it be said that I go off too quickly at the start of the race! Well, maybe a little. After passing the 3:30 pacers at about 2 miles, I was determined to just stay ahead of them. I still found the last 5 miles tough going, none were under 8:08, with my last mile 8:45, so fell off a fair bit, can only blame a little on the wind. But I had a great day, and enjoyed putting faces to Fetch names. |

oh and so sorry, well done AGF that's a fab PB. makes sub-3:30 look very achievable in the autumn. see u on the Abi start line! just done an easy 5 with a mile at pmp (or a bit faster) in the middle, followed by stretching thanks to good advice there from Naomi! |
