Off the top of my head I can also think of Lou Lou, fergus and olly who also cracked three hours at Abingdon for the first time. Apologies to anyone I have forgotten.

Remember MrD? He was (is) much faster but pulled his hamstring and limped over the finish in 2:59:59!

Abingdon was my first Sub-3:15 (back on topic!) in the mists of time in 2009. My second marathon and my first "raced" one. G

Back on my run tomorrow, a very slight sniffle and a raised RHR by a couple of beats for the last few days is likely to mean I'll stick to the 20 steady plan. Better to catch a cold this week than in a few weeks time.
The only potential variance I might add is doing it as 17 with parkrun at the end, where I won't be able to avoid running at MP or thereabouts.
So glad I wasted forum breath on this a few days ago
Looking forwards to slightly lower volumes over the next couple of weeks after doing 50/54/54/60/56/60/56/57/58 for a pretty consistent block. Barn feeling pretty well stocked with hay.

On a different note, I uploaded the Manchester Marathon route to my Garmin Connect account and spotted that it would let me create a "PacePro" profile for it, despite my watch not having that feature which effectively confirmed the flatness of the course in terms of mile splits etc.
Would be interesting to see how PacePro profiles match real world experiences. For example, the final climb at Chester seems to attract a relatively small overall impact for that mile (less than 5 seconds slower than average pace) than it's reputation might deserve (assuming no -ve or +ve split intended).
