A sensible enough compromise in the circumstances. You'd expect most to have run a half, though some will fall through the netting.

Looks like i screwed myself by cancelling my GFA place. Its not clear if i will still be able to use my time from March 2019 or if i'll have to run the virtual marathon.

SKR - I think your case of cancelling will be in the minority. As I read it, you now don't have a qualifying place for 2020 event and and will need to do Virtual race and use your half time for a 2021 GFA. May be worth a call to see if that cancellation can be reversed unless you fancy the Virtual

SKR - you're not screwed, you're OK "If you had a Good for Age place in the 2020 event and you ran the qualifying time before 1 January 2019, but have subsequently achieved the 2020 qualifying time between 1 January 2019 and 4 October 2020 as published in Table 2 below, you will be able to get a guaranteed Good for Age place in the 2021 event, subject to providing evidence of the qualifying performance." It's in between the two tables at this link virginmoneylondonmarathon.com I'm in the same position, used a 2018 for my 2020 place, then cancelled my 2020 place, but can now use a 2019 time to get in for 2021. Clear?! |

Sorry, wrong paragraph so not clear at all! "If you do not have a Good for Age place from the 2020 Event, and you are not taking part in the virtual event, you may still apply for a Good for Age place in the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon. You will need to provide evidence of a qualifying performance achieved between 1 January 2019 and 4 October 2020. Table 2 above displays the qualifying performance times." |
