Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Even if I ran to time the same gps gremlins would get me. Only answer is to run on a measured track and use my old Casio stopwatch !!!

I must admit when I do strides (in my terms) I make sure I am running point to point over a defined distance so that timings are repeatable, irrespective of GPS issues. I can't imagine the training impact would be compromised either way, but I prefer tidy data!

Baz - Yes, but you just ignore Garmin distance and do effort. You'll know if you're running slower by using landmarks as Larkim says.

Apart from my race warm ups, I've not done a single sprint this year on track and all my road ones are to time.

Has anyone had a swelling just below their knee cap ( google tells me its tibia tuberosity soreness or Osgood Schlatters') basically only hurts when it flex my knee and when i begin my runs.

I'm currently using the R.I.C.E approach but was wondering if anyone has any tips for alleviating the pain.

OTG thats correct, serves me right for googling symptoms! I've been adviced to take 72 hrs off running and just continue to ice it and take anti-inflammatory tablets

If you've got kids in athletics clubs, Osgood Schlatters is one of things you hear horror stories about from just after primary school age. Bones outgrow muscles and the muscles tear off the bone (is an oversimplistic and probably incorrect description!). Fun stuff!!

Ironically when i went for an MRI a couple of years ago to diagnose issues with my right knee the specialist did mention i had Osgood Schlatters as a kid but it must have gone undiagnosed.
